Help us make it rightA trendy after-work hangout, Smith & Mills is apt for a night of drinking with buddies or simply whiling away time at the bar area. The decor is minimalistic given the lack of space; the joint is a mere 430 sq ft. establishment. Interesting cocktails, music, late hours, and dine-at-the-bar are definite pros. On the flip-side, the staff can get a tad high-handed and the place gets mighty crowded...
Locals and insiders wedge into this "itsy-bitsy" TriBeCa niche, a converted carriage house that furnishes "delicious" cocktails in "quaint" digs sporting a "tiny bar" and a "unique" bathroom built into a vintage elevator cab; the scene's always "interesting", but "go off-hours" as seating is limited.
Tribeca's newest and tiniest addition, with some fascinating architectural details from yesteryear.
In Short
Marked only by a bare light bulb and its street address painted in red, this sophisticated nook is tucked inside a carriage house in the far reaches of Tribeca. Tufted banquettes...
This was one of my favorite bars in New York, I live here and when anyone visits this was a go to spot. One of the most unique bars here and I've been a lot. But, I went again last night for the first time in about a year and I was really upset to see them make my cocktail with Gordon's gin. When you're paying $15 …
Amazing spot which is easy to miss while you are trolling around TriBeCa. Had brunch and would recommend the celery soup, the avo toast and scrambled eggs. The ambiance, the food, the service is incredible. The restroom is a real trip.
Intimate and low key lounge/bar. Ordered the bartenders choice cocktail and he made me a delicious concoction based on mood and base liquor. Impressive. Great place for a conversation to unwind with those who matter.
Smith & Mills is a cute date spot. They have a small menu, but the food is delicious. This is a great spot for happy hour! The place is small, so you may have to wait for a table, but you can have a drink while you wait!
Re-review after more than a year has passed. Time to break out one of the ultimate Yelp cliches: "Smith & Mills is indeed a hidden gem of TriBeCa". In the time that has passed, I've managed to roam in here several times. Always at the most vulnerable times, such as when I've already had too much to …

What to Drink: The menu offers classic cocktails like the Manhattan, Old-Fashioned and Negroni, but you can also request a delicately refreshing elderflower cocktail, made with St. Germain liqueur, champagne and soda.
Food Served: Stop by in the morning for coffee and muesli, or complement after-work cocktails with high-class bar snacks like oysters and caviar or a braised beef baguette.
Fun Fact: The ornate bathroom is built inside a former elevator shaft complete with intricate wrought-iron work, an antique sliding door and an old train car sink.
