The docent in front should speak some Spanish..as many Mexican people like self

This was well worth the trip! The admission is FREE and the house is well laid. It is a self-guided tour and the video is well done. There is also a public bathroom!

A fascinating piece of Los Angeles history. Made even better by the curator, a very knowledgeable and interesting lady. Many thanks from myself and my partner. We loved it all, especially the fact you made sure we could watch the video of the area together.

Built by Mayor Don Francisco Avila, this is the oldest existing house in Los Angeles and it once served as headquarters for Commodore Stockton in 1847. Severely damaged in the earthquake of 1971, the house is now restored as an example of California life style of the 1840s.
