Demi Monde set up shop almost two weeks ago in the Financial District, serving high-brow cocktails with names like "Check Your Head" and the "Billy Goat." The bar currently features small bites and will soon offer a nine course tasting menu from Vandaag alum Philip Kirschen-Clark. Co-owners Alex Day and David Kaplan both of Death & Co., also have plans to operate the space as a cafe...
Scandi spot widens the horizons of downtown diners. Dutch and Dane inspirations lead the way, with Hudson Valley purveyors keeping things fresh. Smørrebrød sammies for lunch, hen for two roasted with bay laurel and lemon at dinner. Waterzooi as fun to eat as it is to say, combining mussels, shrimp, green tomatoes, and garlic. Shines on the cocktail side as well, with Aquavit and Genever...
If Aquavit is still the standard bearer for Scandinavian cuisine in New York, Vandaag is the cooler, harder-drinking downtown version. Though it specializes in the foods of Holland and Denmark...
What a great place. Stylish, great lighting, amazing service and the food is incredible. Also they have a really interesting drink menu.
Came in on off hours, had a tall, handsome waiter all to myself. Quiet time with liquor, hot lightning, and a few kinds of honey wine. Great way to take...
I've not had a lot of Scandinavian food, but of the Scandinavian food I have had, all of it was from Vandaag, and all of it was excellent. The service is quick and friendly, and the look and feel of the place is perfect for a late-night dinner/drinks combination. It does get a bit noisy and the food is certainly...
So sad to see this place go. It was nice to see someone doing something innovative and different at a high level of quality, but for all the self-proclaimed...
Hearty, modern Northern European cuisine, only using locally sourced ingredients. Like a Scandinavian Momofuku, in many ways, and should appeal to the same younger, hipper foodie crowd. Fantastic cocktails and well-curated beer list. The best new addition to the neighborhood in the last year or so.
Northern European fare is underexposed in NYC, but this trailblazing bistro and bar makes a strong case for its appeal. The minimalist interior sets the scene for cutting-edge cocktails. Chef Phillip Kirschen-Clark offers great small bites to match.
The Profile Page for this restaurant is brought to you by the DiningGuide.com service. Vandaag is located in New York.
Vandaag also has a bakery where pastries--including a cheese danish, of course--and coffee are available from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
