Adam needs to change the company name. Van Pelt Contracting is misleading because it's not just OK. It's more like Great Contracting or Awesome Contracting. So what makes Adam and Van Pelt Contracting great?
#1. they show up on time. - I know. Shocking right? you hire someone and expect them to stick to a schedule and show up as promised, but if you've done remodeling before, you'll know that this isn't always (or even often) the case.
#2 No unnecessary scope creep - What's this mean? it means Adam's Crew won't try to talk you into replacing a bunch of stuff that doesn't need to happen. If he knocks a wall down and sees serious issues, he'll list out your options and in the end give you his HONEST opinion of what he
would do (it's wasn't the most expensive option in my case)
#3 Fair pricing - We got a number of bids and Adam came in the lowest. That wasn't the reason why we chose him though. His bid was broken out and much more transparent when evaluating costs for each function. It was easy to read and understand where your money is going on a large project
#4 Personality - Adam is a straight shooter and is a generally nice guy. He'll call and discuss issues before doing additional work.
In the end, we had Van Pelt Contracting demo 2 stucco walls to repair wood rot and also waterproof/seal our patio deck. Work was done on time and as described in the work proposal. We're happy with the work that was done and will definitely keep him in mind for other jobs.
