Curries and Japanese-style spaghetti fill bellies at this neon-clad Japanese cafe in Tribeca.
There's a genre of Japanese food thats probably not too familiar to New Yorkers yet, called "Youshoku". Literally translated, it means 'foreign food', and it includes dishes that were brought to Japan (such as pasta, steaks, and stews) and made popular with a twist, probably starting around a hundred years ago. I've always been a big fan of Japanese food from ramen to sushi, which already have become American food.
I liked Japanese restaurants that serve more local Japanese food in East Village but didn't quite satisfied me enough.
But when I found Tokyo Bar in Tribeca, it really got me! Starting from Japanese styled fried chicken with tasty Tokyo Mojitos, then Omu-Rice (egg covered fried rice), and Green Tea Soufflet as dessert.
THEY ARE ALL SO DELICIOUS!
Too bad only 1 person has written the review- worth checking it out before it gets too crowded!
