As you might guess from the name, the Kitano imports much of its sensibility from Japan, with touches that include a bilingual concierge and a high-concept Japanese restaurant—and it also makes for a notably service-oriented stay. One thing that's not classically Japanese, though, are the lovely oversize guest rooms, which are decked out in beige and gold. Head downstairs through the eerily...
Owned by the Kitano Group of Japan, this elegant Murray Hill gem offers a unique mix of East and West sensibilities. The marble and mahogany lobby, with its Y-shaped staircase and Botero bronze Dog, is one of the most attractive in New York. If you’re a lucky (and wealthy) individual, you’ll get the opportunity to stay in one of three one-bedroom town-house suites, each with sunken living room,...
Collision of East, West in epic battle for title of quietest, luxest midtown sleep. NYC’s first Japanese hotel keeps hospitality standards high. Shiseido in the bathrooms, kaiseki haute cuisine in house resto Hakubai. Clean-lined rooms decked in mahogany and cherry. Marble lobby foreshadows gleaming bathrooms. Staid without losing too many style points. Double-paned windows keep city’s pulse...
The Scene
This hotel, owned by the Japanese Kitano Group, has a distinct, Zen-like feel, even though it's just four blocks south of Grand Central Station. Public spaces are sleek and...
One of our favorite hotels in New York City. We stayed here again last week. The staff is top notch. The rooms are spacious and clean. The locations is fantastic. And the room rates are reasonable. If you use the gym they get you into a nearby NYSC. Two thumbs up!

From the second I booked this hotel, I knew it was going to be a great place to stay. Perfect location, on Park Ave., easy walk to GRAND CENTRAL. The highlight of these rooms are the "seat warmers" in the bathroom! What a positive perk!!

We’ve been coming to The Kitano for years, and this last time it felt really dated. I took some pictures in the bathroom, but the furniture in the room was also dated and can be seen in other travelers’ photos. There is a disproportionately big fridge with food/bev that it’s supposed to help them track consumption. It charged us although we never even opened the door of the fridge. Reception...
For my NYC trip, we chose to stay at The Kitano due to its location near to Grand Central Terminal (which is indeed true and thus a good location for stay). Overall, the room is great and has every required amenities. The toilet has a heating rack which you can hang your towels or any wet items to dry and I felt it is a very useful equipment in the room especially during winter or raining...
We just stayed at the Kitano for a one night stay for a wedding in NYC. We got a great price (under $200 including tax) for a nice room. The room was well maintained and appointed. Not too large, but not cruise ship small either. The bathroom had towel heaters, and a heated toilet seat/bidet function. The location (66 Park Ave.) was perfect for us. Within a mile of where we were going for the...

The Kitano may be inviting, but the Big Apple awaits. The Empire State Building is less than a 10-minute stroll. Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and the Theater District are all about a 10-minute cab ride from this Midtown hotel. (Ask the Kitano's concierge for help booking tours and show tickets.) Grand Central Station, 4 blocks away, offers not only in-city and out-of-town rail connections,...
