Editorial reviews from the web (5)

Superlative set design meets the golden age of travel at the Jane Hotel, a 159-room former SRO for sailors (with a few residents still remaining; look for the silver doors) and one-time refuge of Titanic victims in the far West Village. It's the budget alternative to equally mise-en-scène sister properties the Maritime and Bowery hotels, and best for those looking for a stylish base, not space....

The Jane is a budget hotel with a rich history. The brick property was once a resting stop for sailors, and in 1912 Titanic survivors bedded down here. During the 1980s and ‘90s, the building became the seedy Riverview Hotel, attracting…

A high-end hostel where travelers can bunk on a budget.

The third installment from the owners of the Maritime and the Bowery Hotels, the recently renovated Jane Hotel draws jet-setting recessionistas with 200 cabin-like rooms that provide shabby chic...

An opulent hot spot inside the Jane Hotel.

Take note of the Argentinean tiles, stained-glass ceiling and stuffed monkey as you make your way through the Jane Hotel’s speakeasy-style bar--complete with a drinks window--into the lavish...

Editorial Review

Bare bones accomodations for $99 a night in the West Village, courtesy of Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson--the same duo behind the more upscale Bowery and Maritime hotels.

Situated in beautiful Greenwich Village, The Jane is just across the street from the Hudson. Fantastic views of Manhatten and easy access to the nearest subway. Rooms are exactly as described on the website and are clean and comfortable. Nothing too much bother for the staff (even if it's the 100th time you've asked them where the nearest ATM is)...;)

Stayed four nights. loved it. Captains Cabin room was huge - lovely bathroom, vast bed and a seating area outside. Location is excellent for The Highline, Greenwich Village, Chelsea Markets and riverside walks. Area is charming and felt completely safe. On our first night we enjoyed drinks and comedy in the bar before a snack in the restaurant which served...

Good nightclub, but the people trying to sleep ruined it

I should start by saying I wouldn't have chosen this hotel, hotels.com moved me here after my original hotel cancelled. IF you don't mind sharing a bathroom (which was clean) and don't mind a minuscule room, this place is fine. My only issue was the music blasting out. I was so tired from travelling that I could barely register what...

Tiny rooms but fun

This is not the place for you if you are planning on spending time in your hotel room, but it is a great location - close to trendy restaurants, with a club downstairs, and the price was fairly good. This hotel is more similar to a hostel you would find in Europe than a typical North American hotel.

I really enjoy staying here and have done a few times when on a quick trip - they have cute clean and affordable rooms and the bar and restaurant are very cool and hip ,,Its pretty basic but for what you pay I think its a great place - check out the history of the building its very cool .
