Which room to book: Chatwal Theatre rooms have nearly 100 square feet more space—and are better value for your bucks—than the standard Classic rooms.

Stanford White's Lambs Club becomes posh playpen. Sky's the limit for prices, but then they're hooking up suites and apartments in addition to standard luxury rooms. Deco is the muse, think vintage luggage and Varga Girls. Elegant, with first-class attention to detail. Frette linen, custom mattresses, Kashwere robes. Butler available on request, to help smooth your transition from home.

Not worth the money

Let me start with, the desk staff, bell staff, and bartender were FANTASTIC. Super friendly, helpful, polite, engaging. One of the best hotel staffs I have met. However, for the cost of the room I’d expect to be able to get the shower warmer than luke warm and made the mistake of looking at the edge of the tub. Large amounts of mildew that I was able to wipe off with a Kleenex. Would have been...

A blast from the past

The Chatwal is a clear attempt to evoke the feel of the classic hotel of old! The staff are particularly warm, friendly & helpful. Unfortunately, for the price, the rooms are rather small. However, if you must stay around times square, then it's one of your best choices.

Chatwal is a great hotel but sometimes not as much.

A luxury property needs to be just that. No question/ no excuses/great staff and exemplary service. But on our last visit unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The entire staff needs to know how to act as a luxury property. St Regis punta Mita is a luxury property and although one is a resort and the other a downtown hotel - service should be the same. San Sebastián/marquis de riscal. Take it to...

Wonderful summer stay at the Chatwal!

We had a special mom and son trip at the Chatwal over the summer. The staff was attentive to him - which was lost on him, but appreciated by mom! The hotel is beautiful in its art deco style and the location was great for us as we like to roam around Times Square. We are locals who like to have nice hotel-based stays once in a while. We like to take advantage of in-room amenities and to play...

Great location, cool vibe but service variable

Well appointed hotel right in the heart of the theatre district. The hotel is well appointed and has a lovely art deco jazz vibe. Service was very variable with some absent minded servers forgetting things or not knowing what Marmalade is. Also the room card keys demagnetise real easy so we had to get them remagnetised 4 times in 3 days.

Sant Chatwal, father of celebrity hotelier Vikram Chatwal, pulled off an enviable feat when he opened The Chatwal New York: He delivered a property that feels equal parts downtown and theater-goer friendly while also serving up a fine blend of old NYC layered with contemporary comforts. Along with the project's lead architect, Thierry Despont, Chatwal should also be commended for doing what so...
