Help us make it rightFYI - This business has filed for bankruptcy, in the Southern District of New York, effective on or about June 11, 2007 and converted from a Chapter 11 to Chapter 7 Liquidation at the end of July, 2007. From my understanding, Ken Silverman is the appointed Chapter 7 Trustee. The business is now directing all calls to (516) 479-6371, the trustee's attorney, Mark Friedman. FYI, the former owner is opening a new store called Just Bulbs on the UES. This information is posted on the windows of the former location at West 16th Street, listed above.

Sometimes products sold have poor workmanship. When this occurs we exchange uninstalled products for a better version of the same thing. When a product does not work properly after being installed, it can be a function of a bad product or a bad installation. In either case, the warranty terms apply. On ceiling fans, some companies such as Casablanca have us repair fans at the installation site with the factory paying for the work. Other companies require that the fan be sent to the factory for repair at the owner's expense. Most repairs are a result of improper installation however. We can...
Ms. Cooper is mistaken. We quote a price of $20 labor for any lamp repair brought to our shop. This is our basic price to which we add the cost of parts. Usually, we do not know what parts are required until the work is commenced. Our receipts always say $20 plus parts. Ms cooper's parts were dificult to obtain and cost $25.00.
When she was informed of this she claimed fraud. We were willing to not repair her lamp and charge her nothing for our labor, but she also found this option unacceptable. --a few complaints after 65 years in business are bound to happen.

They quoted me a price for fixing my lamp. when I went to pick it up they price was $25 more than I was quoted, even though the electrician checkecd the price of the parts with me in front of him. I played phone tag with them for weeks about correcting the price. Then I got a (rude) message that the price was fixed and I should come pick it up. I went to pick it up again, and the price was not corrected. I finally spoke with the electrician who yelled at me and told me I was lying. Then I spoke to the president of the company who yelled at me and said ""You are right, I am not good at...
I wouldn't return to this store again. I bought a ceiling fan and have experience poor workmanship, terrible customer service, slow delivery. They have yet to complete repair on the ceiling fan I bought over two months ago. It is a simple job that has turned into a nightmare and they obviously do not care about keeping customers. They are abrasive and consider you their problem - rather than working with you to fix simple issues. I wouldn't recommend them to my worse enemy - and I'm pretty understanding with fixing issues. Avoid them if you value your time and your money.
