I had a very bad experience with Shanan Tailors and Cleaners on Thompson St. On about five prior occasions, I had to ask them to re-clean garments that came back looking the same as when I brought them in. The man who runs the place reluctantly agreed to have them done over. Usually, the second time around, the garments were done better, so I did continue taking things there. Over the last year or two, I have been a good customer and have given this place a great deal of busine$$ for alterations and cleaning on expensive top designer shirts and trousers.

Poor quality work

I was told about these guys by a sales guy in the Paul Smith store nearby. I asked for a pretty particular job to be done (taper the pant legs as they were too baggy, cut quite a bit out of the jacket back and shorten the sleeve length). As is quite typical with tailors, I had to get them to do additional work after they told me it was 'ready'. The jacket is ok, the pants still too long and the sleeve length not anything like I asked.

In summary, if you want standard tailoring these guys are good (friendly, professional and keep deadlines) but if you want more intricate work, go elsewhere....
