Editorial reviews from the web (3)

When you're sick of Italian and "new" American for your Midtown food fix, trek on over to Eighth Avenue for a proper meal of well-executed French classics. Open early, open late, you'll get the classics (bistro crab cakes, nicoise salad, steak frites) along with a few neutral bites for the 'mericans in your group (e.g. there's a burger on the menu). To drink: wine, whiskey, calvados, cognac....

This charming cafe places a strong culinary emphasis on goose and duck dishes, often cooked over wood smoke, as well as fresh river salmon and delicious trout. They also serve a number of entrees originating from Southwest France that incorporate ingredients such as wild mushrooms, truffles, foie gras, walnuts, hams, cheeses, and French wines, some of which stem from the vineyards around Cahors...

Affordable French cuisine served around the clock.

We visit Pigalle every year after the theater on our girls trip to NYC. it did not disappoint. We had mussels, l'escargot, hangar steak, and kale salad, which all were great! This is not the place for Cobb salad, which was quite ordinary. We'll be back next year.

We were disappointed with our seating. The booths were very uncomfortable and clearly in need of renovating. Our waiter failed to come and check on us and when he cleared our table he spilled melted butter on two people in our party and barely muttered an apology. The only thing good was that we were served quickly.

I have been to Pigalle many times for lunch and dinner, over the past 15 years, and continue to go back. Their menu and food are even better now with a great variety. Although it was a birthday celebration, there was no singing or special dessert given, even though the booking stated it was a birthday.

Good food but close tables

The menu was varied and delicious sounding. The food was very good (although they left a main ingredient off a salad) but the tables are very close together.
