It gets worse!!! Today, May 23, 2011, I received a rebuttal to my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Besides 90% of the response by Pianeta Legno, making blatantly, and in typical what I expected fashion, fabrications, especially personal untruths about person & persons involved, they stated the following to the BBB: (I have edited the information and pulled out some of the more radical statements. Had they mentioned any of these pieces of information or had not stated the opposite, I would have purchased solid hardwood at a reputable home center.)
"As a matter of fact we are not a member; therefore we have no obligation to respond to this inquiry..."
"...In this region very low relative humidity in the air during the winter months is a common knowledge. Therefore people who are conscious about their health ...use humidifiers to maintain relative humidity..."
"...purchase took place during the winter months, during which we had 2 big humidifiers running in the middle of the showroom where they were physically present during their purchase."
"In this region, very low relative humidity in the air during the winter months is a common knowledge."
The cracking is "a common reaction of the wood and it is not considered a product failure, but a natural behavior of the wood by its nature."
What happened to us:
After listening to the Pianeta Legno Flooors (PLFloors) sales pitch, we installed an estimated 800 sf of flooring. After a few months the planks started splitting and warping leaving sharp points protruding. Efforts to have Pianeta Legno remedy the situation have been in vain. Today, April 25, 2011, they claim we should have known the flooring needs humidification systems installed in the house. Had the retailer told us that we needed a humidifier we would not have purchased the flooring from Pianeta. A humidifier costs money, has to be maintained daily, drips water everywhere, needs space, can't be left on when on vacation, can be tipped over and looks unsightly. My suggestions: if you are going to install hardwood floors, buy it at a large home center. Their products are vetted and they stand by everything they sell. I have purchased more than half a dozen homes in the past 5 years and time after time I have had nothing but good experiences in getting remedies from the large home centers. If you would like to see photos of the cracked floors and bowed wood you may do so at Poconos4Sale.com
Pianeta Legno and in particular their general manager, Serkan Kutun, believe themselves to be quite clever and the penultimately shrewd sales people, garnering notches for sales at any cost.
After my negative review, 5 star positive reviews start coming in. Not 3 stars, not 4 stars, but 5 stars. And interesting that there are no reviews since March of 2010, then they start coming in on May of...
