Restaurant

The wily but well-heeled 14th-century poet Francesco Petrarca would feel right at home among his namesake wine bar's mix of Italian cognoscenti and le tout Tribeca. Unlike the altruistic bard, the immaculate space (formerly the Baby Doll Lounge strip club) clearly has benefactors: Namely sibling restaurant Arqua and the Tribeca Grand Hotel, whose moneyed guests pop in and out of the would-be...

Editorial reviews from the web (1)

This Italian restaurant keeps things sleek and understated in all aspects with its red and white leather seats, long glass windows, and somewhat under-seasoned pastas - all is understated except the price. But ah, you're in Tribeca, though that's still not a good enough excuse. Petrarca stays cozy, pleasant, and admired by its loyal local following thanks to its long wine list and menu...

Fantastic every time. It's a true neighboorhood family-owned treasure for those lucky enough to be in the know.

Very nice wine list organized by price within region. Lots of attractive vegetarian choices. Bill came to about what you expect at a nice Italian restaurant. Waiter was particularly knowledgeable and could answer questions about menu items.

A "memorable selection" of "unusual" wines and "delicious, creative" Italian food make for a "winning combination" at this "casual, modern" TriBeCa restaurant and wine bar; "welcoming, friendly" owners and staffers provide "personable, attentive" service, and while some find it "a tad pricey", for many it's "a place to return to."

Eating places

Petrarca is a Italian restaurant where most Menuism users came for a business meeting, paid between $25 and $50, and tipped less than 15%.
