Help us make it rightAn Upper East Side institution at the elegant quarters of Carnegie Hill, Peri Ela has been the choice of restaurant of locals who come there on regular basis since it opened its doors on 2007, February 14th and visitors some of whom reserve their tables every time they come to New York. They simply do not skip. You can find the captains of their industries enjoying the Mediterranean and Turkish...
This diminutive eatery, fighting for affection on a mini-restaurant row on the Upper East Side, is well-suited to post-92nd Street Y literary events. Under an ornate pressed-tin ceiling, Peri Ela plates up Turkish standbys garnished with the freshest of ingredients. The peynir tabagi appetizer, loaded with feta cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers, is almost a meal by itself. Other specialties...
92nd Street Y fuel-up fave is slicker and smaller than it looks from outside. Paneled in dark wood, looking like the sweet study of some Istanbul exec. Op art silkscreens speak to a younger crowd than the usual Carnegie Hill scene. Menu runs through the classics, in refined versions. Octopus salad, hummus, smoked eggplant. Yogurt, natch, with beef dumplings and ground lamb kebap. There's lots...
This restaurant is my go to when I attend a performance at the 92nd St. Y. I love Turkish food. We usually split a bunch of appetizers. I had grilled shrimp kebob and salad. it was delicious.
Crowd was so boring that it became depressing. Food wasn't bad, just very bland. Octupus was good though.
lovely restaurant, good food, service and best of all quiet.
Food was delicious. We went with just appetizers and every one was delicious. Shout out to the smoked eggplant. One of the best things I've ever tasted! Service was slow. Don't understand why since it's such a small place. Regardless, excellent food...strong drinks!
Delicious food. Friendly service. Very quaint and cozy space. Great place for Sunday lunch when all the brunch places are overrun. This was quiet and not crowded.

Eating places
The ambiance at Peri Ela is quite unusual for a restaurant that specializes in ethnic eats. The dimly lit restaurant covered with wood paneling is adorned with large pop-art posters instead of the usual Turkish knick-knacks that decorate this restaurant theme. The cuisine at Peri Ela, however, is unmistakably Turkish, and its menu offers many classics like the Hunkar Begendi with Lamb featuring...
"Cozy" and "unassuming", this Carnegie Hill Turk fills a need in "a neighborhood with not many good choices" (even if some find it a "little pricey"), with "simple, fresh" fare, "accommodating" service and a "gracious" host; decor is modern with exposed brick, with nary a hookah in sight, but tables are "tightly packed", and it gets busy pre-theater for the 92Y.
