French Restaurant Los Angeles

Consistently regarded as one of the best restaurants in town, this flagship of Joachim Splichal's Pinot-based hot spots is located inside the Walt Disney Concert Hall. It will not disappoint you. It is a favorite of the executives at neighboring Paramount Studios, so chances are good for celebrity sightings. The seasonal roasted white asparagus is wonderful as is the poached Maine lobster with...

Patina Restaurant Review

Patina is a restaurant with a long fine-dining history. German über-chef Joachim Splichal arrived in the City of Angels in 1981 with pretty much nothing in hand besides his culinary skills acquired in Germany and France. After his first restaurant, Max au Triangle in Beverly Hills, he opened Patina in 1989 on Melrose Avenue and later moved it into the stunning Frank Gehry-designed Walt Disney...

The 38 Essential Los Angeles Restaurants, April '14

This time around, after much reflecting and pouring over reader emails and comments, we're taking down Water Grill, Sushi Park, Superba Snack Bar, and Guelaguetza in favor of perpetually popular room with a view Nobu Malibu and custom pizza craze instigator 800 Degrees. Also new to the dance floor please welcome Night+Market and Bucato, restaurants that are doing good things in the name of Thai...

"Superb attention to detail" yields "refined dining" that's "near perfection" at this Patina Group headliner from Joachim Splichal tucked into the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where "brilliant" New American–Californian cuisine meets "gracious" service in a "quiet, elegant setting"; the "steep" price tag is equally "exceptional", but for a "sophisticated" "pre-performance" "treat" it's "among LA's...

The 38 Essential Los Angeles Restaurants, January '14

This time around, after much reflecting and poring over reader emails and comments, we're taking down a few older places like Animal, Picca, and Wurstkuche in favor of new blood by way of David Myers' ode to Cali-Asian cuisine at Hinoki & The Bird, chef Walter Manzke's energetic Mexican hub Petty Cash Taqueria, and Chi Spacca, the Mozza Team's newest Italian number favored for its excellent and...

Went to Patina for a pre-concert dinner. Cosy dining space especially if seated in the booths. Service was perfect, the staff provided a very comfortable service. The dishes were well made with fresh ingredrients and beautiful presentation. Portions were just right. Would definitely return again.

I really enjoy the food and service! The food is presented very pretty and delicate. The service was very nice. The only thing I would complain is the restroom and decoration are not pretty enough for this kind of high-end restaurant.

We were impressed with the sommelier and the wine pairings she came up with. She was attentive and passionate about what she does.

Out of the six course menu, more than half of the dishes were stellar. Make sure you have plenty of time. Our meal took about 2.5 hours.

Patina is excellent. The service is superb, very high-touch. Christina the sommelier is amazing, very knowledgable but warm and open, not at all snooty like some can be. The food was delicious - we went for Dine LA so were able to try many different dishes. The wine list is very expensive, nearly all over $100 per bottle. Overall, would definitely come back for a special occasion.
