Big plates, pretty presentation, nothing chili hot, tall ceilings, bar, fancy furnishings, big booths, great place to take a date.
I lean more to the "real" Mexican food which this is not. This is not to say it is not good. In fact, if you have someone who hates hot food, this is your destination.

First, ignore the "not authentic" comments from other reviews... Almost no American Mexican Restaurants are authentic and that is ok. The food is good and in the style of Mexican.
Second, they have nightly specials that are great! I recommend the Taco Thursday as they offer half priced premium tacos. Beef Brisket hands down the best!

Our meal at On the Border was fine, but somewhat generic. I really prefer independent Mexican restaurants over chains. I did have a stuffed avocado, which was the best part of my meal. Service was so-so--food came quickly, but drinks didn't get refilled very quickly.

The service (server) in our section was BEYOND SLOW!!! Thankfully we got our drinks quickly, because of the hostess. And the hostess brought out some chips...
