You can "feel the nostalgia" at this "elegant" bar in the lobby of Downtown's historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel; it's a "little stuffy" and "sleepy", and cocktails are "pricey", but fans of this "old-time" retreat lined with wood paneling and intricate carved details don't mind paying up for a serene setting where "you can hear what the people sitting next to you are saying."

Designed in Italian Renaissance style, the Millennium Biltmore opened to national acclaim in 1923 and in 1969 was designated a Historical Cultural Landmark. The hotel has undergone extensive renovation in recent times, including…

Set in a neighborhood of striking architectural landmarks (including MOCA and the Walt Disney Concert Hall), the 1923 Biltmore is a sprawling hodgepodge of Mediterranean, Spanish, and Italianate influences—designed to elicit awe rather than to represent any one style. What's truly awesome, though, are the hotel's dramatic interior common spaces. The lobby has golden travertine walls, soaring...

Use the expense account to drink in the most rarefied air (and single-malt scotch) downtown can offer.

In Short
From the overstuffed furniture to the de rigueur oak paneling, the Gallery Bar oozes with the grandeur of yesteryear's Los Angeles. Nestled in the bosom of the historic...

Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever been too at this price.
1. On arrival they gave us a room with view of a brick wall and so dark we couldn’t see a thing.
2. They told us we could use the outdoor pool at Hilton...

What an amazing landmark & fabulous spot! Downtown LA, walking distance (for those visiting non-Angelino’s) of the Broad and MOCA, across from Pershing Square, near trendy restaurants and night spots. Never seen such amazing rooms—Chrystal Ballroom, Tiffany, Emerald, the lobby, subterranean pool. Just an amazing...

The Italian-Spanish influence is evident almost everywhere at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. The hand-painted frescoes, the bas-relief décor, the fountains, the polished wood floors, the ornate ceilings and the abundant flowers all contribute to class and elegance that is practically beyond words. A favorite since 1923, and a member of Historic Hotels of America, this famed hotel hosted the...
