To "quench taco cravings", hit these crosstown Mexican "favorites" where the "fair-priced", "authentic tastes" are best washed down with a "terrific margarita" or two; both the service and the "tight" quarters are "undistinguished", but in warm weather, the West Villager's patio is the "spot to be."

Located at the tip of one of the Village's sharp corners, the Grove capitalizes on its large sidewalk dining area, with the inside space reserved for an open kitchen and a smattering of hand-carved...
our table was near at main door...it was to cold inside . Good tacos and Margarita.
The food here is outstanding. Creative and delicious tacos. Please note that this location is very different than those in Chicago. In Chicago Mercadito is an upscale, trendy, flashy restaurant. In NYC (the original location), the restaurant is just a small neighborhood place. The food is just as good and the ambience is fine, just don't expect a trendy hotspot.

The food was good but we were rushed to eat and move on. There was no tequila in the margarita and the wine was bad. Tables are on top of each other (four were seated at a table for two) and the noise level was quite high. Service was fair. the waiter forgot two drinks. This is a restaurant for kids who do not mind high prices for a moderate amount of food.

The house margaritas are outstanding, especially the citrus version with orange, grapefruit, lemon and a bit of habanero for zing.
