I love the products for sale - quality and variety of artful items. The gallery is beautfully presented in the log cabin setting in a relaxed atmosphere.
I visited the Log House twice while staying in Berea, and on both trips I had a really good experience. The place is staffed by Berea College students, and they are knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to talk to about not only the items in this impressive store, but also about the College in general. Wonderfully arranged selection of local and student work. Plenty of room to move around and appreciate the fine craftsmanship. The staff are pleasant and helpful without hovering and allow you comfortable browsing. I think my husband got tired of waiting but I did notice some seats on the porch that other patient fellows were using.
The selection of student/mountain folk-made items, both useful and whimsical) were endless, tho perhaps a bit pricey for larger items like loomed throws or decorative wood pieces. For sure you will never find others like them elsewhere and cheaper. I have used my woven placemats for over 3 decades now and they are still almost new. The wooden cooling racks...
