[Bar Primi by Bess Adler]
If all had gone according to plan, Andrew Carmellini would have opened Bar Primi in 2007, a full two years before he opened Locanda Verde. The chef tweets a photo of the menu for the original Bar Primi, which he says was supposed to open somewhere on 10th Street, noting that it's a whole lot like the one that Sal Lamboglia is now serving on the Bowery. This means that...
Andrew Carmellini's "happening" TriBeCa Italian draws a "star-studded", "masters-of-the-universe" crowd with an irresistible mix of "heavenly" cooking and "hip" vibrations; too bad it's "consistently crowded" with "tight" seating, variable service and "ear-shattering" decibels, but the fact that reservations are virtually "impossible" to get speaks for itself.
[The Provence; Carmellini; Colicchio]
Developer Bart Blatstein has just brought on Andrew Carmellini and Tom Colicchio in his proposal for Provence Resort & Casino, a massive complex in the works in Philly. Should the proposal win the bid, each chef would operate a restaurant in the development, the first foray into Philly for both of them. In a press announcement, Colicchio says he's excited...
When Andrew Carmellini left A Voce---the restaurant he helped found---a legion of faithful eaters put their forks down and sighed. But after a year hiatus, he fired up the burners again at this Italian eatery in Robert DeNiro’s The Greenwich Hotel. Formerly the space that housed the failed Ago, Locanda Verde’s interior hasn’t changed much. The menu, however, is Carmellini all the way. The...
Chef Andrew Carmellini, an acolyte of Daniel Boulud has definitely made a name for himself in New York City with this Robert De Niro-backed restaurant, and then with the Dutch in SoHo. The space at Locanda Verde is warm and welcoming, with accents of brick and wood and large windows that open to the street, weather permitting, while the menu is full of inspired Italian comfort food that hits...
Food and service was exceptionally outstanding all around. Chairs utterly uncomfortable. Would be nice if they had space more accommodating to mid size groups for business dining. Definitely a standout.
Everything was going great until 45 minutes later since our appetisers arrived, there was no sign of the main course. Apparently, lunch time is a busy time for them!
Went here for an early evening meal, fantastic food, and great atmosphere! We loved the fresh bread, the appetizers, the wine, and the fresh fish was outstanding! Great neighborhood! Would make an excellent lunch place for those who have time to wine and dine!
Our server David was exceptional. He confidently guided us through the menu and wine list offering recommendations for each. Thank you to server assistant Andres for his genial personality and professionalism. All of the staff were accomodating and attentive from beginning to end. Everyone was engaging when prompted without being obtrusive. My girlfriend and I were celebrating an early...
A truly well-thought out space next to the grammercy Hotel. Terrific brunch of soft scrambled and friatatta. Good bar service and good bloody Mary's!
