Dr. Halpern over-sedated my healthy 3-year-old cat Simone causing her untimely death.
After having a routine ear cleaning, Simone died within 36 hours of Dr. Halpern's care. To add insult to injury, Dr. Halpern extended no sympathy to my family for Simone's death. I understand that mistakes happen. But he got belligerent with us for even questioning her care, which was well within our right. When we reviewed her record, we learned that Lefferts Animal Hospital gave Simone more than 2x the safe dosage of KETAMINE, an animal sedative that KILLS if misused.
Veterinary malpractice is a very undefined domain. Again, mistakes happen. But what was just as devastating as Simone's death was Dr. Halpern's inhuman response. He later accused ME of abusing my cat. The whole experience was so traumatic on so many levels. I don't want Simone's death to be in vain, nor do I want anyone else to suffer as she and my family did. That is why it is my responsibility to share my tragic story. Do not bring your animal to Lefferts Animal Hospital or anywhere Dr. Halpern practices.

Dr. Garden was amazing as usual! The whole staff is amazing. We were seen in the small animal clinic for my dogs ear infection. They explained everything really well and showed us how to clean my dogs ears and put in the ear drops for her infection. Thank you so much!
