What the community has to say about La Zarza Restaurant

Information about this business (3)

La Zarza resto-lounge, a lively, sophisticated restaurant, opened in February 2008 in New York's perennially hip East Village. A destination that intertwines indigenous Argentinean and Spanish cuisine and culture on the multifaceted menu, which features flavors, ingredients and techniques from both cultures. The harmonious combination of cultures is housed in a candle-lit, rustic space with...

New menu coming up in June for our 4th Anniversary!! The new menu hews more traditionally Spanish as befits owner Mario Larrea's background. It's tightly edited and focuses on both tapas and entrees. Small plates include Grilled Sepia with Piquillo Sofrito and Sherry Crema, mini Fabada Cantina (a white bean, herb and blood sausage stew) and Crujente de Majon (crispy bread, melted Mahon cheese,...

Slightly clubby but not excluding, this East Village lounge boasts exposed brick walls, dark wood beams, and most important: the highlights of Spanish and Argentine cuisines. The menu is split up between appetizers, tapas, grilled meat and…

While DJs spin soulful world tunes, Spanish and Argentinean eats tango on small plates and tapas.

In Short A rustic-urban ambiance--think wood meets exposed brick--infuses this bi-level boite where DJs drop global beats and the kitchen crafts Argentinean-Spanish hybrids. Either sup on entrees, such as Patagonian rib-eye…

I called to check availability and found they also have nightly specials for large parties. What an awesome time! Private Room made available for us. We had such a great time, my friend has already booked her Birthday Party there as well. Perfect Place to Celebrate or enjoy the Weekend. Ask for Mario...He is the best!!!

Tips about this business (3)

Only the front dining room is open during weekdays, so tables are scarce after 8pm.

Sit at the bar and look down: A forest's worth of wood is nestled beneath a layer of glass.

Opt for a cucumber-tequila cocktail amped up with muddled jalapenos, or try a pitcher of sangria available in three fruity flavors: strawberry, peach-mango or guava-pineapple.
