Regulars consider this a place to call their own. There is, by the way, soup here. And, as the name suggests, it’s good. Particularly the French onion, which is served in a traditional mini-cauldron-like pot. But there’s so much more on the menu, which aims at traditional French fare: the steak frites is a decent cut, complete with better-than-average thin, crispy fries; the big salads are a...

Located in the heart of Midtown, La Bonne Soupe is a classic French bistro serving delicious fare at reasonable prices. From its signature soupe a l"ognion to savory crepes, steaks and fondue, La Bonne Soupe features timeless bistro classics as well as daily specials and a prix fixe. Opened in 1973, the restaurant has undergone a extensive renovation in the past year.

The La Bonne Soupe special includes a bowl of soup with bread, salad, a beverage (house wine, beer, soda, or coffee), and dessert for $19.50. À la carte options include bistro classics like crepes, omelets, salads, quiche, and croque madame and monsieur. Expect a bustling, lively crowd, and often a line at lunchtime.

Good soup--and even better prices--on a landmark Midtown thoroughfare.

Been here a times based on a friend's recommendation and tried the onion soup. IMO it is the most flavorful and rich onion soup! Delicious broth full of onion, generously topped with perfectly browned and crusted gruyere. Crepes, mussels and salads were all delicious. Service...

I love this place and I know I will be back. Ordered crepes this time - came with fresh green salad - dressing on the table is typical but lovely O&V with mustard, probably a touch of tarragon - perfect for lunch or late evening...

The good is good but the prices are high. I would give it 3-4 dollar signs.
This used to be a family place.

Dinner for four was set in a small but nice upstairs dinning room. The menu spanned reasonable to expensive items. The crepes we ordered were large and very good.

The three-act play, starring Jeanne Moreau and Marie Bell, ends with the words "Et hop! Par ici, la bonne soupe!" here meaning: "step up (to the roulette tables), and put your money down, which will give...
