A Keith McNally–esque, ‘industrial brasserie’ setting (think subway tiles, bottles galore) sets the hep tone at this NoLita newcomer offering luxe American eats along with a raw bar; French doors opening onto the street lend airiness, while a basement lounge dubbed Li’l Charlie’s seals the deal.
Ken is short for Kenmare Street. And the cook? That’s Richard Diamonte, who worked for Jean-Georges Vongerichten at Mercer Kitchen and elsewhere. Ken & Cook has borrowed a bit of its look from Schiller’s Liquor Bar, with subway tiles and shelves of wine bottles, and added more ambitious touches like brass-topped tables, and more elaborate food. Mr. Diamonte is preparing oysters Rockefeller...
Replacement for the shuttered Travertine, helmed by Artan Gjoni and Richard Diamonte.
Former Mercer Kitchen hand hangs his shingle with breezy Nolita space. Interior outfitted as an “industrial brasserie.” Café tables and chairs, whitewashed brick lit up by angular silver lamps. Paned doors open up to sidewalk, al fresco dining. Casual vibe meets sophisticated bites. Squid with Greek yogurt, mint, and chili; pan-roasted monkfish with fennel and pollen. Produce sourced from Union...
Everthing was delicious and the staff was attentive and helpful. We highly recommend a visit to Ken & Cook.
Best all-around dining experience I've had in years! Will definitely be returning and recommending to all my friends!
I went here with parents and everyone who dined was very, very pleased. We had a 7pm reservation and were among the first of the dinner crowd when we arrived. As dinner service went on it got more crowded and definitely gets quite noisy as it fills up, but not enough to be a dealbreaker. All of our meals were great and the drink list is small but high quality as well. Great attentive service...
Walked in and really liked the atmosphere and the cute bar in the back. Doors open on a beautiful night where there were tables inside and out. Wasn't impressed as the drinks were very overpriced,...
The price point was attractive but the options were bland and the fried chicken very mediocre. It almost tasted like they were frozen. Bottomless brunch was good, the waitress had a bit of an attitude but overall had a good time with my group. Would likely choose somewhere else to go next time though.
