Help us make it rightThe East Village Japanese "ramen king" has been joined by a Hell's Kitchen outpost, and both ladle out "serious" noodles in the "richest, most complex" broth ("what heaven must taste like") along with "spectacular", "succulent pork buns"; "upscale" looks and "speedy" staffers who "cheer when you enter" distract from the "famously long waits."
The look of Riff Raff's, a subterranean bar/nightclub located underneath the Polynesian megarestaurant Hurricane Club, is equal parts tropical (tribal masks and Malaysian textiles line the walls) and city-sleek (a disco ball hangs from the ceiling, and there's lots of shiny dark wood), but the drinks are all tiki. Extremely large cocktails, occasionally served in a watermelon or coconut, come...
This ramen spot doesn't just noodle around. There are other dishes on the menu, too, like grilled pork belly, shrimp tempura and a tofu salad. But the main attraction is the bowl of house-made noodles bathed in the restaurant's famous…

I was seated fairly quickly at one of the common tables and studied their menu. The pork bun was definitely on my list, but I decided to give the Shoyu Wasabi a try. The services was pretty straight forward, nothing spectacular to report.

OMG. One of the very very best ramens I;ve had! I've tried 3 different flavors and I have no been disappointed yet!
The best best best noodles in town. It's actually the broth that's the star.
One spoonful of the silky, creamy, rich broth at Ippudo forever changed the idea of Ramen for me. After years of devouring cheap instant noodles throughout college (OK...still at times) I never realized that ramen could be a truly refined, elevated dish as it is here. The pork buns are also amazing. It's perfect for a rainy day. There's always a long wait, so I recommend trying to get there...
I find this place to be overrated. Thankfully went their for an early lunch so didn't have to deal with a long wait.
