"Creative" Lebanese dishes take "deliciousness to a new level" at this "hip", "high-energy" haunt in "cool", "spacious", wood-lined digs near Madison Square Park; "noise" can be a "drawback" and "tabs can mount", but "beautiful people abound", and "attentive" service helps make it "great for groups."
Famed Washington, D.C., restaurateur and chef Philippe Massoud brings his culinary talents to New York City with this bi-level, 400-seat eatery that showcases cuisine from his native Lebanon. The menu includes standard Middle Eastern fare, but also unexpected dishes like bone marrow with sour-cherry tabbouleh and black cod with fragrant rice and tahini. Waiters never fail to refresh the basket...
Set in the Flatiron District in a chic high-ceilinged room bedecked with wood, ilili is a near anomaly. Until it swung open its doors in late 2007, Lebanese food was mostly available via take-out counters and vending carts sprinkled throughout the city. Palatial exception to the downmarketing of tabbouleh. Modern, involved interior, with alternating wood frames like an enigmatic gameboard. Side nooks for more intimate moments. Both lush and casual, combines midtown flash and downtown flair. Mediterranean classics and intriguing Lebanese specialties. Duck shawarma with fig, pomegranate, and garlic whip. Try ordering that from a lunch cart.
Valentine's Day dinner at my girlfriend's favorite restaurant. We had James as our server for the pre-fixe menu and it was the best food and service we've ever had. ILILI is all that and more!
Very nice place to dine
Amazing food and perfect ambiance for Valentine's Day. The Mixed Grill is a MUST if you are a meat lover. Come with an empty stomach - portions are plentiful and food is so delicious, you'll want to have enough room to try it all :)
Server was not happy that we were there!! She was cold and distant and seemed annoyed that we were there.
Service was so slow. 15 min just to get our drinks. Food was great but little overpriced.

The small plates range in size--don't be bashful about asking your server how many people each will accommodate.
Arak--a licorice-flavored Lebanese liquor--is incredibly refreshing, like a Middle Eastern mojito.
There's a great $34 special that includes four dishes. Or just order a bunch of mezes to share.
The sizable lounge draws a large scene, but it's nicely separated from the main dining room, so that all tables are well-insulated from noise and crowds.
