Back in 1950, a little lady by the name of Ella Goodson went to work in a small cafe near Tomball. Four years later, the owner of the cafe decided to sell out. He convinced Mrs. Goodson that she was the only person he knew that could "make a go of it" at the cafe.About the time that "Ma" Goodson bought the cafe, the area began to experience an oil boom. In Short

Goodson's Cafe is a great classic cafe. The food is freshly made. the staff is very friendly. The service was very quick on my visit, and the restaurant was busy at the time. Refreshing place to eat versus all the chains. Festive decor for a very traditional Texas roadside cafe / diner. Great menu matches the reason you would eat here…chicken fried steak, chopped sirloin, fried chicken, hamburgers and nice size portions of veggies and homemade rolls with gravy. Great service - waitresses are fast on their heels.
If you visit Houston you need to come here for chicken fried steak, the locals say that this is the best. It was a good lunch.
I ate here 5 years ago and the food is as good now as it was then. Amazing food large menu and very good service. Cheaply priced and the food is awesome. The people are so friendly here it is awesome.
Ordered fried mushrooms and onion rings as an appetizer...they were greasy and lacked flavor. We ordered Chicken Fried Chicken and it was mediocre at best. Don't know what's happened here but the food was bland and boring. Nothing was out of the ordinary. Too many other places to go so doubt there will be a return visit.
