Dublin House Inc

Like a welcoming beacon, the Dublin House’s neon harp blinks invitingly. In 1921 this former orphanage was rebuilt as a no-frills Irish saloon. There’s a long, narrow barroom up front and a bigger room in the back that’s good for groups. Original wood veneer detail remains, adding to the pub’s charm. The Guinness is cheap and drawn perfectly by the very able and sometimes crusty bartenders....

1921. A speakeasy of days gone by. Red leatherette booths. Brass art deco decor and a phone booth with a PHONE in it (albeit push button). A proper Guinness...

$17 for a beer and a bourbon and coke!! Not very welcoming. Do locals pay these prices. Not recommended for tourists.

We stopped in late night during our stay in NYC and had a lovely time chatting with Tony. He makes a great drink and is a lovely guy. The place was convenient to The Lucerne which is where we were staying for the night. We'll stop next time we are in that part of New York.

Good little neighborhood bar full of locals. The Irish guy behind the bar has been there forever and does a fantastic job of serving everyone quickly.
We sat at one of the little tables across from the bar waiting for service, but then realized the bartender was the only person pouring and serving. A quick trip up to the counter...

Take a cue from the “linoleum and tacky wood paneling” – this circa-1933 UWS Irish pub is a “real-deal” joint catering to “old-school” sorts that’s as far “away from hip” as you get; a “dump in the best sense of the word”, it also sports one of the coolest neon signs in town.
