Help us make it rightAround 200 beers are at your disposal when you sit down at the oaken bench or saddle up to the bar at this Park Slope/Gowanus beer hall. Food is on the menu, but beer is where the meat and potatoes of the place lies.
This out-of-the-way beer-centric eatery in Park Slope with medieval décor serves up hearty fare with an emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe. Though suds-loving Slopers come for the beer---there are over 250 available, with an emphasis (surprise, surprise) on the Czech and Hungarian varieties---the food might make you stay a while (if only to add longevity to a beer-fueled night). Calling all beer geeks. 250 brews from all corners of the Earth -- the usual suspects, plus a truckload of unknowns from Belgium to Brooklyn to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka? Modeled after a Euro beer hall: long-bench communal scene, hops paraphernalia aplenty. Blaring TVs ain't chilling anything out, either. Great spot to feast like Kings & Queens! Portions are generous, beer selection is extensive and atmosphere authentic.
Since 2008 the company has been providing Retail - Bar (drinking Places).
Draft Barn lives up to its name: The voluminous Hungarian beer hall, with its rustic wood-and-brick architecture, would indeed make a suitable shelter for cattle. The beer list-hand-plucked by lifelong beer student and owner, George Mitelman, who runs a sister establishment in Sheepshead Bay-is formidable, now at almost 300 bottles and ever-expanding, and comes from the world's four corners....
Order off the menu to sample Draft Barn's most addictive food: fennel-studded brown bread chunks that are deep fried, then generously salted ($3).
