The SoHo Grand defines what SoHo is today—once pioneering, now expensive, and with a vaguely creative vibe. When the Grand opened in 1996, it had been a century since a hotel had debuted in the neighborhood. Today, as new properties crowd the field, its low-key sophistication stands out ever more clearly. The Club Room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily but the Parlor, the Club Room's...
If you're wondering why there's an antique stone dog trough at the door, it's because this industrial-chic hotel is owned by pet food maker Hartz Mountain. (And yes, dogs and cats are welcome; they even enjoy perks such as body pillows.…
With its 2,000-square-foot penthouse lofts, the Soho Grand, the first luxury hotel in SoHo, is still the most dramatic. Very much in the downtown spirit, these suites look like an art dealer's loft—cool and residential with one-of-a-kind pieces such as zinc screens and vintage chandeliers. The designer, Bill Sofield, quotes rock icon Lou Reed as one of his influences in choosing furnishings,...
The soho grande is located in a wonderful exciting area. The staff is unbelievably excellent. We walked to most shops and restaurants. The rooms are a little on the small side but so are most in New York. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Designers decided to go with a dull brown decor and very low lighting making much of the hotel dreary and a bit depressing.Fortunately we had a corner room with two windows but it still felt dark. The hallways were so badly lit.Bathroom was too hospital like, bath old and tired and ready to be replaced and showerhad a mind of its own - from cool to too hot and back again. No coffee/tea maker in...
I made the reservation on their website. Upon checkin I was asked for a card for “incidentals.” The. I find they charged the room to my card plus incidentals. I was not comforted by the cup of tea they offered but never arrived. After settling the financial situation I found the stay comfortable. Then, I showered attempting to get myself into the world at 4:30p. I returned @7pm, still no clean...
The location is great, decent food as well. Wish the lighting was a lot brighter than it is. The staff is great and is always ready to help. From an amenities and facilities perspective, it has limited options

Stayed one night on business. Common areas cool. Good location in SoHo. Food excellent. Staff very nice. However, my room was dark and dingy, I had to call down for soap, hair on the walls, scrapes on walls and tiny room. There is a complimentary coffee machine on the floor which was great when breakfast failed to deliver on time. I mentioned my issues with the management and they apologized....
