Ten years after opening Bongo in Chelsea, Jeffrey Bell and Andrea Cohen decided it was time to find the next new destination location. They took another chance and choose the far West Village: West 10th Street and the West Side Highway. Bongo in the West Village is still a seafood lounge with creative cocktails but it is a larger, more versatile space. The challenge was how to make it feel as...

Beloved Chelsea oyster shooter HQ brings second act to the shores of the Hudson. Keeps with the waterfront theme, offering up über-fresh raw bar, tuna burgers, codfish cakes, lobster rolls. Aforementioned oyster shooters reprised as well, served spicy with Vox vodka. Versatile space with lounge, private party room. Space-Age Bachelor Pad interior rocks luxe banquettes, groovy lamps, mosaic...

A cocktail lounge that serves solid fare as well.

Relaxed yet chic environs at a Chelsea spot where both good seafood and specialty drinks are found.

Average Rating

My friends and I have been coming to Bongo since the mid-90's and it remains one of my favorite places in NYC. The owners are great, the loungey mid-century vibe is perfect with its emphasis on cocktails and oysters. It's great to visit as a couple or in a big group. In all the times I've been there, I've never...

Bongo was founded in 2010. Bongo specializes in Family Clothing Stores.

Bongo is located at 395 West St Frnt A, New York, NY. This location is in the West Village neighborhood. This business specializes in Restaurants.

Seafood Lounge. 15 years and going strong! We serve the best lobster rolls , freshest oysters & killer cocktails. All set in a Mid- Century Modern Decor.

“Trendy” tipplers bang the drum for the “stellar cocktails” and seafood-centric eats supplied at these “fab” “party pads” with “retro”, “Brady Bunch”–meets–Eero Saarinen decor; granted, “they’re not cheap”, but the Village outpost on the West Side Highway offers more square footage for your buck.

The popular Chelsea seafood and cocktail lounge's second (and much larger) location on the West Side Highway is significantly closer to the fresh ocean breezes—or whatever kind of delicious air is blowing in from the Hudson. Bongo 2.0 offers the same menu of lobster rolls (once deemed by "The New Yorker" to be the best in the city) and ocean fare, plus a generous raw bar presenting more than a...
