Today was my first and last time at this hostpital!

Like most older dogs my little dog developed a breathing problem rather quickly. I know from past old pets that this is usually congestive heart failure and usually they can hang on another year or two given the right treatment, like sterioids and water pills. My last little dog lived 16 years and she had simular symtoms. On meds the last two years of her life. I took my dog to Anchor Animal Hospital today. I am new to the neighborhood and an aquaintance told me they took their dog to this place.
First of all. I was being pressured to get blood workup for 175. I did not agree to do this. I said I wanted an antibiotic, sterioids and water pills for the dog. The doctor was upset that I didnt say yes to the blood workup. He then came out with a shot. So the Dr. told me the shot was medicine for the dogs heart(?). The receptionist told me that the shot was an antibiotic. I was told that my dog should be doing way better in a few hours. I went home, and two hours later my dog who was just eating and wagging her tail the day before started stretching in pain, her heart was very beating fast (it wasn't before the shot) and her breathing was getting worse. She looked like she was dying! I called the Dr. The doctor was not at the hostpital, I was told he would drive there. My friend was rubbing her chest and blowing air into her mouth once in a while on the way back to the hostpital. She died right when we pulled in the parking lot. The doctor took about 5 min to get there after we did. She lay on the table, moved a couple times. The receptionist told me that I might be surprised at how the doctor may be able to revive my dog. So I had hope for a moment. The doctor came in and said she was gone. He said her heart stopped and he didn't try to revive her in any way.
No emotion. He told me he would not charge me to get rid of the body but to bring back the meds he gave me for her earlier. He said, "Do you have the meds with you?" He was concerned about the money, the meds and like it was no big deal(I had paid $100. for the visit earlier in the day) Just another dead dog and crying owner. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I will search for a hospiital with a heart, and a doctor who will treat my other pets like it was his own child. (Edited March 26, 2011)

BB has been going here since he was a puppy! The doctor and staff are great. Appointments have always been on time and they took BB the same day when he wasn't feeling well.
