This used to be our favorite restaurant in the west village. Lately, however, the owner refuses to lower the music and this is a small, intimate place with very good, if somewhat predictable food....
We ate there on Christmas and had a superb fixed price dinner. The calamari was excellent as was the prime rib. And I had what was probably the best green salad I've ever eaten. Will definitely go there again when we're in NYC.
Terrific waitstaff, good food. A reliable neighborhood restaurant, never disappointing on all levels.
We passed some other places that looked overcrowded, but Alexandra's was perfect and quiet enough for our 9:00 dinner. We were a bit nervous based on mixed reviews, but food was great and service was great. Mushroom and sausage gnocchi was very good and friends steak special was excellent. They even made a pasta with cream sauce and "fancy" drink...
