What the community has to say about Waffle House Museum

Information about this business (1)

If you're from the South, you've no doubt eaten at the Waffle House. The iconic 24-hour restaurant chain was born in Atlanta. The first Waffle House location now serves as a museum where visitors can experience what life was like in 1955, when the restaurant first opened. Original fixtures and carefully crafted replicas recreate the original interior. Next door, Waffle House memorabilia - such...

They don't open this museum very often but it is nice preservation effort on the part of the corporation to maintain and improve this little piece of land. It only takes minutes to go through and I when I visited there is no entrance fee - just a suggested donation. Who doesn't like the waffle house? I love the "Welcome...

We actually went last year for my birthday and brought my sister from out of town. We had a blast. It has been beautifully restored. They are only open a couple of times a year. One might be able to set up an appointment. They give coupons at the end of the visit.

Fun Place! Like going back in time

As far as I know, the museum is only open one Saturday a month, so check their web site for schedule. You cannot eat here, but you can walk around and feel like you've stepped back in time. Lots of memorabilia and history. We took lots of photos and enjoyed our visit quite a lot.

This small museum with irregular hours is the site of the original Waffle House restaurant. There's really not a lot to it, a replica of the original counter and grill and a small kitchen area in the back. In a equally small building next door is a collection of waffle house historic items including a collection of Waffle House records...

Have visited the museum a few times. May be biased, as one of the co-founders of Waffle House grew up in my house down the street. Amazing that they prepared all the food fresh in such a small space. Always go when it's open for tours and wear my 'I heart Waffle House' pin with pride.
