Value your pets then find another vet!!

This is potentially the worst run most customer unfriendly Vets I have ever in my entire 20 years of owning animals encountered.
1) Their record keeping is atrocious, our spayed female dog is listed as un-spayed despite (most of their vets there probably can't even tell the difference)

2) They could not even schedule a rabies vaccination ( for one of our cats correctly) again despite being reminded repeatedly what the appointment was for.

In fact I would not trust them to do anything with an animal because they don't review charts or check anything before an appointment. In this case they even blamed us from not getting the appointment right this was after the 1 hour wait without apology ( they were short staffed but never mentioned it when we arrived ) when we complained and demanded to see the office manager they called the police ( yes seriously apparently complaining customer have no right to ask to see who is in charge they can waste hours of your time and charge you for the displeasure of it with no recourse)

But all that pales into insignificance when we get to the veterinary ability of their vets. We originally went because of Dr Klaiber who is excellent but unfortunately has been out due to injury for months and months now. The other vets there should not be allow to treat worms let alone cats or dogs.

Our Coon hound was taken in repeatedly for blocked anal glands, symptoms included rectal bleeding general stiffness, difficulty defecating, and loose ribbony stool with blood in it.
Visits resulted In the same I dunno answer every time ( often with and expensive antibiotics treatment for an anal abscess )
The symptoms got worse until a final call where we asked for an appointment because things had got so bad. They didn't consider it urgent and offered a vet tech appointment some 4 days later.

That weekend we were at Boston Road Animal hospital in the emergency department where one quick exam had the Vet telling us he was suspecting cancer in the anal glands in and advanced state. Cody did not even last the week from there and the biopsies confirmed cancer and metastatic disease.

Boston road was awesome where Southwick had missed all the classic symptoms of this condition multiple times. So if you want routine shots and expensive annual check up and no diagnostic skills or interest in your animal this is the vet for you.
If on the other hand you have a pet you value find another vet.

Find another hospital if you care about your pet

People brought their pets there to see Patty. We trusted Patty. Do NOT let them schedule you now with Dana Klaiber. It is my opinion that she killed my dog with too much anesthesia. He was healthy when he walked in the door, his bloodwork supported this claim. She weighed him in at ten pounds more than he was, I even told her it was wrong. Instead of putting him back on the scale, she insisted she saw the number. I thought they would weigh him again when I brought him back for surgery. No, again. They took the number off the paperwork the Vet had done a few days earlier. If Dana Klaiber had bothered to look at my dogs history she would have seen he weighed 10-12 pounds less than this his entire life. When administering anesthesia based on weight, you can not be too sure. Oh but Dana Klaiber has a self inflated sense of importance that I believed contributed to the death of my dog. I will never forgive her. She did the routine surgery, just as my dog had a year before by Patty. However Dana thought she would keep a fully intubated dog under excessive anesthesia for yet another hour while he was fully groomed. You don't keep a senior dog under anesthesia for any longer than needed. You can't groom a dog and keep his head level, elevated and still while you are grooming them. Why was he kept under anesthesia for the grooming? I have a VM from her where she says she "got carried away while removing growths and took off more than we agreed to"....that is an exact quote. The bill was also double her estimate. This bimbo doesn't think, she just pushes services on to the clients that she is clearly not capable of performing. In my opinion, Dana Klaiber killed my dog. He was healthy, running around, eating, enjoying life until she got a hold of him. This dog meant the world to me. I had him for 11 years and he trusted me. I walked in with a healthy dog with an ear infection. I walked out two weeks later with him in a box. My recommendation is stay far away from Dana Klaiber if you care about your pet. I had reservations about her right from the beginning. I've been to many Vets in my time and they usually ask questions to understand the entire health history of the dog...not Dana. She treated the symptoms, not the cause. Never referred back once to the extensive history on file...and it was in her hands. Southwick was a good hospital when Patty was there...I am going to miss her. Do not let them schedule you with Dana Klaiber...I am gathering other complaints about this hospital and so far every single one is about Klaiber. She needs to rethink her profession.

Pushy Techs, unknowledgabe

Brought my sick cat here and they gave her antibiotics and pain meds. Sounds great but they had no clue what they were treating. She had a fever, was obviously in pain and the CBC showed there was an infection. She has continued to get worse and after spending $400, will be taking her elsewhere to try to resolve my kitty's trouble. The techs want to do the doctors work over the phone and I won't pay that kind of money for incompetence.

Brought 2 cats here on separate visits for slight infections; a tooth and an eye. Followed instructions for medication and care with love. All 3 cats died a few weeks later.

After spending a fortune on care for my cat she ended up dying. I was told her prognosis was "excellent". Due to a positive prognosis I continued with treatment spending thousands of $ only to end up being heart broken????

VCA Southwick has changed so much since Dr. Kuzmickas left. There used to be longer than usual waits because Dr. K. was thorough and wouldn't complete a visit just because the time was up. I think...
