"I told her that it was not her check to convescate."That's correct; but it was their check to confiscate. You ripped them off and then tried to cash a check at their location. Not your best idea.

Run to an attorney!!!

I did remember getting a payday loan from them some years ago which i was not able to pay and had to file bankruptcy since  I had some financial problems.
If this prior debt to them was DISCHARGED in bankruptcy court, then you need to run to an attorney and SUE THEM IMMEDIATELY-the debt to them no longer exists.  There is no "right to offset" for any debt that is discharged in bankruptcy...

I came in to cash  a check I had received from my last job since I had lost my job. I decided I was going to take my kids out for ice cream once I had went to UNbank to cash it. Well to my surprise, the lady at the window told me that I had took out a loan with Unbank a few years ago at another location and that she could not give me my check back because I owed the company.

What they did may have been illegal depending on bankruptcy laws.

I do not know the details, but a lot of debts are cancelled when you declare bankruptcy.  That being said, itis incredibly stupid to try to cash a check at the same place you borrowed the money from. Frankly, you should have a bank account, but for some reason poor people love to use these payday loan/check cashing places.
Oh and another thing: nobody gives a sh!t that you were about to take...
