Unfortunatly I agree with that other comment. I have been screwed by UHaul myself, but in this case, with your transmission going as a result of towing, it is entirely your problem. You should have checked with your owners manual for the towing capacity of your vehicle before towing anything.
That said a responsible UHAUL operator should have said something.

Your responsibility as a renter

Did you read your owners manual? I'm sure in there it talks about towing. If not, did you ask the employee to offer you any extra advice about towing a trailer. We provide you all the information that you need when you pick up the equipment in your rental packet. You had the time to look on the website to find the cooler after the fact. Why didn't you do some investigation before hand?
