Ripped Off

I had a verbal agreement with Cesar Alfaro(owner of Twisted Dreams Racing) to install a steering gear on my truck for $80 and do an alignment for $60 for a total of $140.Took truck in on Sat. A.M. Was told it would be ready that day. Called Sat.P.M. and was told it wouldn't be ready, it would be done Sun. Called late Sun. afternoon and was told it wouldn't be ready until Mon.@7PM. Went down Monday@7PM to pick it up,still not ready.I waited. At 8PM he said that the truck was ready, but the total was now $325, and that he didn't do the alignment, and that he wouldn't accept my credit card. He locked my truck in his shop and told me he would not release it to me until I paid him cash! I called my Dad to get cash so I could get my truck and be able to get to work the next day. My Dad tried to reason with him at 8:45PM and ask him why he was charging for work that hadn't been done.He wouldn't give a us a straight answer to the question.My Dad gave him $300 and asked where the truck was. He said it was locked in the shop and that he would not give it to us until he got the remaining $25.My Dad refused to pay the rest until the truck was brought out. Cesar finally agreed. When he was paid the rest of the money,he threw a carbon copy of the receipt at my Dad.The estimate copy he gave me had been altered in red ink for the new amount. He refused to give me a receipt,only the altered estimate. He then locked his door,turned off the lights and refused to answer the door.

He never called to say that the cost would be more than the original estimate. Nowhere in his business office does it state that he only accepts cash.We recently found another similar complaint in which the vehicle was kept twice as long as promised and the price was almost doubled.

This business and owner are COMPLETELY DISHONEST. Please don't take your vehicle there!!! (Edited February 18, 2008)
