Grand pillars, brick walls, soft lighting, and the buzz of conversation set a warm and mellow tone inside this Victorian space that's been renovated to resemble a traditional Belgian pub. The setting is definitely a draw, but the real stars are the artisan beers: more than a hundred Belgian, Dutch, and North American ones. The light fare includes panini made with organic ingredients.

Probably the closest you can get to swimming in beer without getting your feet wet.

In Short
Pouring is an art form at this European-style pub, which claims, ""No big corporate beer."" With more than 130 Belgian and specialty micro-brews on the menu, even regulars turn...

I like the atmosphere here and it has outdoor seating. Although they had a solid selection of brews, they were over priced with only a few local breweries on tap. I got the MAD Beer Bitter and my boyfriend got the Cellarmaker Laces Out - both good beers. They also have charcuterie plates omg cheeeeese ?

Easily one of the best bars I've ever been to.

Haven't tried the food yet, but that will come with time.

I mean, it's across the bay for God's sake, how often do you expect me to get over?

They focus on Belgian, Dutch, and Scandinavian beers and have over 128 beers on tap at two different bars. It was relatively quiet and a great place to end the tour with good conversation before breaking for the day...

This place is pretty great as far as bars in Oakland go. Tbh I'm not the authority on said bars but this one has most of what I look for: great selection of beers, decent food (although I wouldn't...

Tips about this business (4)

Look Good: The Trappist serves each beer at an ideal temperature for bringing out subtle flavors. If that's too warm for you, ask for yours chilled, but beware the scornful looks.

Where to Sit: Seating is limited, but there's a high turnover at the bar, so it pays to order a glass and hover.
