Tom's is simply the best If you're looking for a cookie-cutter establishment devoid of unique charm where you can belly up to the bar and play on your phone while waiting for your mass-produced...

I didn't go to Tom's Tavern for the ambiance; I went for the drinks and to support a neighborhood bar. Man, was I pleasantly surprised. I had the best damn vodka tonic that would rival ANY FIVE...

This is a Detroit treasure. Tom opened it in 1928, but bartender Ron now plays owner and concierge. Usually opens around 7ish, but don't expect to see it packed with cars. It typically looks deserted, but locals know they only have to try the door.

A one of a kind place in Detroit. Wed- Sat are "normal hours" when I have gone. As good to call first. Been running since 1928, so worth seeing if you like little out of the way places.
