What the community has to say about The Library Austin

Information about this business (2)

The Library has been described as the ultimate hangout. The best drink specials and the hoppin atmosphere combine to create the epitomy of a party bar. Surrounded by the hottest people you'll throw back your favorite beverage. The best music will be kickin' in the background as you think to yourself...this is gonna be a great night...and you're right! Come study your favorite subject at THE...

This Sixth Street bar makes libraries fun again by having a new take on the traditional library. Here it's all about making it loud, making it rowdy and making it fun. The crowd mostly consists of college kids, but mature personalities sometimes appreciate the ironic juxtaposition of decorator books and, on the second floor, pool and air hockey tables. The DJ starts the evening with Top-40 and...

Editorial reviews from the web (2)

This "hopping" Downtown bar lures a "younger crowd" thirsty less for a good read than for dollar specials on well drinks and beer served up by "friendly" bartenders; it's hard to escape the "bro-bar" masses entirely on this part of Sixth Street, but those looking to "get away from the crowd and chaos" head upstairs to shoot pool or duck into faux book–lined booths.

It's a bit of a boys' club, but girls are always welcome at this clubby downtown bar.

In Short
The long room, all wood and brass and spaciousness, is often filled with frat boys, past and present. They congregate upstairs to play pool or mill about downstairs, chatting...

SHITTY SERVICE!!! Sadly from the supposed owner who was bartending and bitching about tips. If you are worried about a tip on a 3 dollar tap please consider a new career.

This place is horrible. If you like paying to look at books then come to this bar. Very shitty servings of liquor, beware and watch the bar tenders they will say they do a three count on a mix...

The Library is one of my favoriteth street bars. Drink specials every night, and tons of great looking women.

Horrible bar, Bartender took a swing at me

I went to The Library and the service was horrible! When I went to pay my tab the bartender didn't agree with the tip I gave him and broke my drink, spilling it all over my jacket and cutting my hand. When I confronted him about this he ""adjusted"" my friends tab to well over double the original amount. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Cons

- workers will assult you

Business description (5)

Library Bar can be found at E 6th St 407. The following is offered: Private Clubs. The entry is present with us since Sep 9, 2010 and was last updated on Nov 14, 2013. In Austin there are 26 other Private Clubs. An overview can be found here.

Favored among Austin's large student population, Library Bar offers a buzzing atmosphere and good eats. There is a variety of very reasonably priced beer available and things get even cheaper on student night.

When Austinites want to hang out with friends and party, they tell everyone they're going to The Library (wink, wink). It's not exactly deception, but it definitely means beers before books! Frequented by a collegiate crowd, the casual place offers drink specials, a lively atmosphere, tons of like-minded folks, and pool tables to keep things active. If you're looking to socialize, The Library's...

When Austin party-goers say they're going to The Library, they don't mean that they’re going to read. A favorite among the college crowd, this downtown Austin bar offers a casual, yet lively atmosphere and plenty of great drink specials. The Library is an extremely popular place to go play a few games of pool, and since it always draws such a good crowd, there are few better bars in Austin.
