Editorial reviews from the web (1)

Industrially glamorous, conceptual without feeling contrived, stylish but not pretentious, The Guild has set the bar for a new type of San Diego restaurant. Co-owner Paul Basile originally designed The Guild as a meeting place for architects, artists and artisans to enjoy fine food and good company; their creative energy attracts the rest of San Diego to Barrio Logan for the chance to rub...

Incredible restaurant! We went for brunch one day and stayed for 3 hours. We started with refreshing mango mimosas and then moved on to a lovely bold bottle of cab. We shared the crab eggs benedict, which was good, but the highlight of the meal was the cheese stuffed peper with a beautiful cream sauce. The service is very friendly and you truely feel like a guest!

This is for fellow members and for executive chef Craig Jimenez: very nice atmosphere, but kirkland signature brand salmon, bad service and charging 50 cents for extra ketchup and 2 dollars for extra melba toast????? This place could be a gem but the above summarizes it all.

THe Guild has promise: an innovative chef; sumptuous small plates and good service. The wine list is, as yet, underdeveloped. The decor is modern, but not at all warm or comfortable. Still, we like it there--something different for San Diego.

We took Bay Area guests for dinner-- and we all loved it. The hardest part was choosing which fascinating dish to order. "I want them all," said a guest. Everything was as good as we hoped. The chef is a genius at combining flavors. My fish was perfect -- and then I tried another person's crab, which was even better! We're eager to return and try more items. Next time, we'll get more appetizers...

Eat before you go. Its a small plate menu, so unless you are a supermodel or ready for a large check, you will leave hungry. Surely the most expensive tuna per pound in the city.

Co-owned by a contemporary artist and a chef, The Guild is a welcome addition to Barrio Logan. The space is visually stunning, with an industrial-chic design that manages to be simultaneously inviting and sleek. The menu is comprised mostly of small plates of creations that defy other labels. You might enjoy the chèvre brûlée with grilled artichokes, frites with feta and house-made ketchup,...
