What the community has to say about Teany

Information about this business (5)

Teany Cafe as the name suggest is a tearoom in New York that is known for its brand of tea. It also serves vegetarian and vegan food that is a hit with the vegetarian crowd. The free Wi-Fi facility enables one to stay connected and lounge in the chairs while catching up on office work too. The tea selection is great, however, this place is known for serving some really delectable vegan desserts....

any opened in May of 2002, and for our opening we had a big party. I couldn't believe that we had actually taken teany from an idea shared over breakfast to a functioning restaurant/cafe. Okay, when I say 'we', I of course mean 'Kelly'. I signed the checks and oversaw everything, but as I said earlier, Kelly pretty much did everything.
When we first had the idea to open teany we also decided...

lovely

My boyfriend is a vegetarian and I dread the usual "green cow" places because the food is generally awful. usually i can't order soup in vegeatrian restaurants without having flashbacks of the trans-siberian railroad. anyway, Teany is nothing like that. the food is great and fresh. the desserts are vegan and so tasty, and the portions of cake are massive. the decor is quaint. it's a great spot to relax and destress after a busy day in the city.

Organic, healthy eats, and all manner of tea leaves for table brewing. Clean, shiny, white just like its ex-owner, M-M-Moby! Full of attractive, body-conscious people who find spiritual validation in pricey infusions. Out-front patio is set down way low, just make sure passerby don't ash their smokes on your health parade.

Moby's delightful tea house/shop on Rivington Street features a terrific assortment of products served in true Lower East Side fashion.

A quirky teahouse proves that vegetarians can rock, too.

Pop-electronica celeb Moby had a hand in turning a former hair salon into this relaxed, modern snack shop--though he's no longer involved. The bright space seats about 20, and is often packed with...

This place used to be awesome, I visited whenever I was in NYC dating back to its opening in 2001-2002, today it is a hollow shell of that. I don't think Moby or his ex-girlfriend must own it now...

Ordered soup that supposedly comes with toast. Asked for avocado on the toast and cheese on the side. When my order arrived the soup was lukewarm and had cheese and avocado dumped in it. Toast was not included

Stumbled upon this place. So cute and quaint. I needed prosecco with my meal, but I will definitely come back for their tea. The vegan cheeseburger was okay. I could easily make it at home. And...

This cute little play-on-words café references both its extensive loose-leaf offerings and the cozy 20-seat smallness of its dining room. More high-profile than it deserves (thanks to electronica star Moby’s earlier financial and promotional involvement), teany might be the only tea house on our tiny island where glitterati and tourists coexist. The Brit-tinged menu boasts savory welsh rarebit...

Know Before You Go: A small space means a small kitchen; so while food is always fresh, popular items tend to sell out. Call ahead to check on your favorites.

When to Go: Afternoon tea is served daily, either for one or two, and includes a pot of tea, two tea sandwiches and a scone per person.

Where to Sit: On sunny days, try to nab one of the three outdoor tables.
