I've been to Ashoka, Bombay, Monsoon, shouldn't even mention Star of India (bad experience), and a few more I don't recall. For the value and their consistently excellent buffet, I'm never sorry I chose Taste of India. And they serve Kingfisher. Second to India. They should serve breakfast, it's never too early for Indian food.

Better than average Indian food

An unfortunate fact of San Diego life is the paucity of good Indian restaurants (and the surplus of mediocre ones). Taste of India is better than average, which in San Diego is really saying something.
The Karahi Gosht and Rogan Josh were tasty; the lamb was rather tough, but didn't have much fat and gristle.

Great selection and multiple different flavors. Much better than typical "steam table" menus. Tastes a la carte. There are meat and vegetable curries every day plus tandoori chicken and desserts. The sauces - raita, mint chutney, etc. are very flavorful and fresh. Good salads. Good value.
