Help us make it rightThe Susan B. Anthony House shares the story of Susan B. Anthony’s lifelong struggle to gain voting rights for women and equal rights for all.
The Susan B. Anthony House, Inc. owns and maintains the Susan B. Anthony House. A National Historic Landmark, the Susan B. Anthony House was the home of the legendary American women's rights leader during the most politically active period of her life, from 1866 until her death in 1906. A group of Rochester women purchased the house in 1945 to be a permanent memorial to Anthony and the cause of...
Jump back in time and visit the house of beloved women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony. Located in Rochester, the beautiful house is a museum in tribute to her life's work - it was where she was arrested in 1872 for voting and was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association. Presently, the house offers public tours and seminars that are suitable for all ages. Stop by...
The west-side street where suffragist Susan B. Anthony lived from 1866 until her death in 1906 looks much like it did in her day. The tree out front is bigger, of course, but many of the neighboring houses still look the same. You can tour the three-story redbrick Victorian and picture Anthony working to get women the right to vote. The visitor center next door was the home of a sister. A park...
We had purchased a Groupon for $10 for two adult tickets. It was well worth $5 each. There are two houses, one which has some displays and a gift shop. The display is a timeline of the suffrage movement and is housed in a large room which can hold probably 20-25 people. Very nice. The second house is actually Susan's...
The guided tour is very educational and illustrates the struggle to gain equal rights to vote between men and women at the start of the last century. Also the chronological map of countries allowing women's vote. Kudos to New Zealand for being the first!!! Unable to take pictures inside the house is a bummer.
It gave a good picture of what life was like while she lived there, and provided a good deal of information about her and he times. Steep steps, so not a good place if climbing is difficult.
Inspiring story of SB Anthony and her focused efforts to get the vote, which did not occur until 20 years after her death.
We had seen 2 quilts made by Susan at another museum that morning. The story is more impressive than the house.
Everyone studies Susan B. Anthony and should, seeing her family home is a must. I hope they revitalize the area and save the houses. It makes you thankful for what we have today! From voting rights to homes. We take so much for granted.
