Starlite's Mule Mugs Disappear at Alarming Rate

Cocktails are tops at India Street's Starlite, especially their signature drink, a riff on a Moscow Mule that mixes Rain Organic vodka with ginger beer, lime and Angostura bitters (they're $6 on Sunday and Monday), served in oft-pilfered copper mugs. The mugs also serve as a vessel for their equally tasty Kentucky Colonel ($6 every Wednesday, mug not included), a darker blend of Buffalo Trace...

Food always satisfying. Service not good. Took over 20 minutes for apps to arrive (after the table next to us who were seated 5 minutes after us). Our entrees then arrived while we we only half way through our apps. No acknowledgment from the food runner or our server, even when they cleared away our uneaten apps lest our entrees get cold.

The food isn't as good as it once was. This used to be one of my favorite spots, however, the prices have gone up and the food has gone down. Their charcuterie boards are VERY disappointing. My husband and I are sad that one of our favorite date spots has changed for the worst.

Great place for a date night or night out with friends. Very cool vibe inside with interesting decor. No other place in San Diego quite like it! Their Moscow Mules are the best in town!

Great service and ambience for a date. We went early so can't comment if things get wild late in the evening, but is not what I was looking for.

The food was great and different and the cocktails were yummy! It was not necessarily quiet but it had a good vibe.

For all its voguish panache, modern dining in San Diego is an enterprise all too often missing that most essential facet of the restaurant experience: community. Starlite, the modish new digs of famed Casbah/Turf Club/Krakatoa owner Tim Mays (and company), gets back to basics in style. Starlite is hip and convivial -- one of the few places in San Diego to go for a contemporary supper club...
