Start with a high-profile address, which is across the street from the dynamic Guthrie Theater, next door to the fascinating Mill City Museum and around the corner from the historic Stone Arch Bridge on the Mississippi River. Add a proven…
Right across the street from Minneapolis's beloved Guthrie Theater, Spoonriver is a favorite among theatergoers. But the warm, orange-hued interior is packed with gourmands even when the stage is dark. Award-winning restaurateur Brenda Langton has long championed organic eating in the Twin Cities, and her own restaurant proves the results are delicious. The house-made chèvre and ricotta ravioli...
In Short
This chic and vegan-friendly space is sleekly elegant, with an urban hip crowd to match. Silver banquettes line the long and narrow wall (the room is 11 feet by 100 feet) and...
With an organic focus, and inventive cuisine and portion balance that leaves you full but not bloated, it's a welcome respite from a busy downtown. Even better, on summer weekends, it sits right next to the Minneapolis Farmers Market.
Spoonriver is fabulous. The End.
This interesting smallish restaurant, an easy walk from the Guthrie Theatre and downtown Minneapolis, specializes in local and sustainable food sources served up in yummy and innovative dishes. The dining room is long and narrow, visible (both ways) to the sidewalk immediately outside. It is primarily set up for groups of 4, although we did see a larger group at...
I loved dining here after checking out the farmers market. Their breakfast options are fabulous- I had poached eggs and they were everything I hoped they'd be. So delicious!

I had the lamb burger which was excellent, the salad which cost extra to substitute for chips was bland. My wife's Nicose salad was pretty good, tasty cashew cheesecake and great coffee. Will probably go back but...
I ate here with a group of 5 before the Guthrie, and it was delightful. I had one of the specials---steel head trout with couscous and a side salad of mixed veggies, and it was wonderful! Service was also great and the wine selection very good. A perfect place to go before the theater, with easy parking.

Visit the Mill City Farmer's Market (right behind Spoonriver) on Saturday morning, then stop here for brunch.
A small takeout counter offers upscale lunches and dinners to go: think Brie and pear sandwiches on walnut bread, Nicoise salad or curried chicken and smoked salmon.
