Help us make it rightSorella is the "sister" conceived on a journey throughout Northern Italy. We found a love for Piedmont's cafe culture that insisted we bring the feeling back to New York. The small villages and cities of Piedmont were the only places in the world we found that we loved even remotely as much as we love Manhattan.

Emma Hearst and Sarah Krathen will shutter Sorella, their six year-old Italian spot, after service this Saturday. The pair offer little explanation for the closure, but tell the Lo-Down: "[A]ll good things must come to an end. We opened quietly in December 2008 as best friends, and are closing quietly this weekend, still as best friends. There's no drama, so we urge you to come...
It's "love at first bite" for many at this "hidden" LES Italian praised for its "consistently exciting" Piedmontese small plates paired with regional wines; "helpful" service and a "cool", "inviting" setting take the edge off of the pricey tabs.
The erstwhile Milk and Honey digs have been reinvented by two former employees at this LES temple of haute mixology, where the tipples are concocted in a slightly reworked space now featuring fewer booths and a longer bartop; accessed by knocking at the unmarked door, it no longer requires reservations, though the cocktails are just as mind-bending (and expensive) as before.
Milk & Honey reboots with its star bartenders kicking off a new regime. Sam Ross and Michael McIlroy drop the reservations policy, revamp for a less precious future. Still works the speakeasy angle (look for neon), still puts the emphasis on serious cocktailing. No menus, bitches, be prepared to express some opinions. Beer, wine, light bite options. Modern-vintage room all about the long bar,...
Sorella's small plates and Northern Italian fare exist is a sort of mirrored infinity. The restaurant itself—tucked neatly away on Allen Street—is small, but cozily so, and is adorned with such cunning and stylish simplicity that it effects an almost Japanese air of subdued, beige-and-balsa modernity. You'll find that the plates served at Sorella are much the same; Piedmontese affectations are...
First time stopping by the former Milk & Honey only served the purpose of getting amused by the curly guy opening the door to this no sign, totally random door. The minty gin drink I had was great, but everything else was not. No particular decor or charm to it, and way too crowded.
The old milk n honey speakeasy changed names and ownership to "attaboy" now. Less exclusive then before as anyone can knock, wait in line and get in. The cocktails aren't as good as before and the space is now too crowded. Still a cool experience!
Okay yes, it is a very nice little hidden speak easy if that's what you're into. But I'm sorry- $16 dollars for 1 drink?! Absolutely not....... What do they think they are? There's barely any seating, its extremely dark and feels like you're inside of a coffin, and in the middle of nowhere! At least have some sort of …
It's been awhile since my friend J and have hung out and she suggested we meet up at Attaboy at 7.I was surprisingly early so walked around the are and ate something before we indulged in some cocktails.Attaboy is behind a non descript tailor shop and had a sign that said Please Knock Gently so I did.I …
Sorella has a beautiful dining room with soaring ceilings which offers an intimate feel without feeling cramped. Their charcuterie and cheese offerings are extensive and selections rotate regularly. Their hand made pastas are perfectly paired with fresh local ingredients. It’s a perfect find in the big city.
We met in the educational portion of our culinary journey. It was then that we established the similarities in beliefs about restaurants. One of us possessing a passion for back of house operations while the other focused on front of the house made it a match. Our search for cultures sharing our beliefs is where Sorella was born.Sorella is the "sister" conceived on a journey throughout Northern...
