I give Shelter Island Boat Yard my highest marks! Integrity, quality, innovation, knowledge and friendly and attentive service characterize my long term experiences with SIB. What qualifies me to make this declaration? I am an experienced yacht owner spanning over 30 years and my most recent project at the yard was likely the largest project completed by SIB and one of the largest in the San Diego area. Many of your readers may recall the BIG WHITE TENT at the yard for several years

As a yacht captain I have been coming to Shelter Island Boatyard for many years now. They have always been very accommodating to the boat's schedule and fairly priced. The boat's that I usually work on, are too big for them to haul out at their yard, but I still go there for all of my other work. Between Es Iverson, John Gumb, Chuck Walling, and Wayne Morrison, they can take care of any problem or improvement, big or small. I cannot begin to list all of the work they have performed for me over the years but let me put it this way;

My job depends on the boat's owner being happy with me...

As a captain, I have worked with shipyards up and down both the East Coast and the West Coast. My yard work has been as simple as bottom painting to major refits on boats of 20 feet to 80 feet. Recently I asked Es and Wayne to extend an 80 foot power boat 4 four feet, move the hydraulic stern thruster, add underwater lights, replumb the bait tank, new interior custom cabinets with burl tops, remove a sea chest and replumb the main engine just to name a few of the countless jobs that occured.
