Obviously You have no idea what you are talking about.  The repairmen I got my information from are AT&T technicians and I pay my bill to AT&T.  Maybe you should do some research on the topic before you post rebuttals.  This area used to be serviced by Bellsouth until the "merger" with AT&T in which the maintenance of the copper wireline telephone equipment became property of AT&T, formerly SBC.

For over 6 months there has been a damaged telephone box along the road in my neighborhood.  It apparently services my entire street and several of my neighbors.  I have reported it twice and some of my neighbors have as well.
